Parr Of Arizona

I spent a really interesting afternoon with Alan Rosenberg (check out Alan's Blog here )looking at his collection of magazines and catalogs, I.D, Rags, East Village Eye, Soho News...etc etc, but what really blew me away were the catalogs by Parr of Arizona, some pretty unique gay clone wear from the 60's and 70's.

Working with A Paint Genius

I spent much of last week doing a job with Chuck Hettinger. We met through my friend Jeff Digangi and the job was painting a wood floor in an upper west side townhouse. It was an awesome job and the floor turned out great! Hope to be doing more of this!

Cops

Friday night I got a ticket in the subway for walking between the cars of a still subway train. There were 2 uptown trains in my station, 2nd avenue, an f and a V train and I walked from my car to the next in order to ask the conducter if he knew which train was leaving first, he didnt, but there were some cops outside on the platform who started questioning me,"are you an MTA employee?" Why did you move from car to car?" "what does it say on The door?" It said "do not lean against this door", which was appparantly the wrong answer because the cop brusquely told me to get off the train and proceeded to write me a ticket as his partner stood there smirking, barely able to contain his laughter at what was happening.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that this has happened to...so I guess I'm just venting, but I've never had a problem with cops before and now it's kind of hard to respect and admire them.

What The Best Dressed Guys In New York Are Wearing

It's great to be back but taking a lot of adjustment....5 weeks! This was the longest I've been away in a quite a while so I've had a lot to attend to...missing Eduardo and all my new friends in Budapest, Bence, Joel, Nathalya. Missing my morning walks through Budapest, painting and drawing in Eduardo's kitchen, shopping at the market and cooking dinner, Corvinteto and Szimplakert. It was a great trip and now I've been able to get back in the studio and start working, who knows what I'll come up with.....

It's great to be back home though..

Last Day In Budapest

I can´t believe it´s almost time to leave, it really hit me hard as I was taking my morning walk...not sure why. I´m sure a lot of it has to do with the new friends I´ve made here; Bence, Nathalya and Joel among others, but its also a combination of big city and small town here thats so appealing, you barely even have to lock your bikeup, even at night the streets are fairly empty and safe...there arn´t that many distractions so it´s easier to focus onyour friends and feelings....it´s been a pretty great trip!

Kavehaz Central

Last night Eduardo treated me to a traditional Hungarian meal in one of the most traditional restaurants, just a few blocks from his flat. We started with fruit soup, its always fun to have dessert before dinner, this was a creamy blackberry based cold soup...delicious. And its always eaten as a starter, never for dessert. Then we had a chicken strudel in a delicious cream sauce...amazing!

Statue Park and The Terror Museum

The years immediatly folowing WW2 had a huge impact on Modern Hungary..even Bence who was born in 1975 has recollections of what it was like to live under the communists and it can be summed up in one word ``AWFUL``. Statue park which is in the suburbs of Budapest, collects many of the more memorable Communist Monuments and I had the privledge of walking through there on Sunday with Bence and heard about his personal recollctions, I´ll never forget this, Thanks Bence! We also watched some secret police training and survalliance films which were mind blowing! Recruitment methods, methods of transmitting information and ways in which to inform onyour neighbors and set up arrests. It would have been hilarious if they wern´t in fact serious.

Yesterday I went to the Teror museum, located in the former offices of the secret police, the cells and gallows are there...right in the middle of the city in the basment of a non-descript apartment building on the main thoroughfare of the city.

Spending the Day with Zsa Zsa

I spent the day riding around the city, its pretty quiet here on the weekends and the streets are quite empty. I rode around for about 4 hours exploring and I didnt have to check my map once...its nice to get to know the city like this and its now official, I LOVE Budapest!

Formula One Weekend In Budapest

I met a driver last night at Action Bar and he gave me his keys to go for a spin....fun!

BBQ at Joel and Nathalya´s

Nathalya and joel invited us for a barbeque on the tiny balcony of their 4th floor apartment on Weds night, it was delicious, hot dogs wrapping in bacon and sausage rolled in pepper and nathalya made an amazing Brazilian potato salad..then off to Covinteto to dance!

Wine Tasting at Valence

Yesterday Bence invited me to a wine tasting party about an hour outside of Budapest at lake Valence. It was in honour of his cousin´s wedding so I got to meet a lot of Bences family..cool people! We left from Deli-pu station...(pronounced Daily poo)and had an enjoyable train ride meeting many of Bence´s cousins from California. The Bride is in the fuschia dress in the wine celler. The cuteness of the restaurant was overwhelming.
