Lepa Brena - Uske pantalone
Lepa Brena and her band Slatki greh ("Sweet Sin") were the first to combine traditional Yugoslav folk music (in particular, the traditional Balkan "Kolo" dance) with modern pop elements, and went on to inspire and influence an entire generation of musicians. Songs such as "Mile voli disko" (1982), "Sitnije,Cile sitnije" (1983), "Hajde da se volimo" (1987) "Duge noge", "ÄŚetiri godine" are amongst the most well-known and popular songs in the history of Yugoslav music, and are definitive of the music of that era.

Giuseppe Penone at Marian Goodman
I went to this show of one of my favorite artists thinking his best years must surely be behind him....and I was knocked out every piece was a winner...it's pretty rare to see a solo show of his in New York so check it out!
In the top piece, the tree is bronze and the stuff that the fingerprint is made of is terracotta roofing shingles. The second piece is really fragrant chunk of pine maybe 5 ft tall and 2 ft square . A well was scooped out and clear resin poured inside
Gothic at FIT
I saw thee show of Gothic inspired clothes at FIT yesterday and its pretty amazing, one of those situations where the clothes function much more as art and sculpture....the top of this dress by Alexander Mcqueen is made of microscope slides dyed red. Check of the FIT homepage here for an online exhibition
